House prices across the UK increased by 7.7% on average on an annual basis in September, taking the average property value to £217,888. On a monthly basis, average prices rose by 0.2% compared to August.

The latest UK House Price Index (UK HPI) has revealed an average annual property price increase of 8.4% in August, taking the average property value in the UK to £218,964. On a month by month basis, average house prices rose by 1.3% since July.

Motherwell, Greenock and Arbroath are Scotland’s most affordable commuter towns, according to new research by Bank of Scotland.

The average Scottish house price reached £143,282 in June this year, which is 4.6% higher than the same month the previous year and 2.7% higher than May 2016, according to the latest UK House Price Index (UK HPI).

The latest House Price Index has revealed that the average property price in Scotland in May 2016 was £141,142. This was an increase of 4.0% on the previous year and an increase of 2.8% when compared to the previous month.
