The Story of “Memphis”

Steeped in local history and beautifully restored for modern family living, “Memphis” dates to 1902, when this exceptional home was built by one of three local brothers who returned to Kintore after travelling to America to seek their fortune.

All three siblings worked in stone quarries abroad, and in honour of that chapter in their lives, each built a granite home named after the quarry in which they worked—Memphis, Darra, and Barre—all of which remain treasured landmarks in the village to this day.

Over the years, “Memphis” has served as a local doctor’s residence, and later became a cherished family home for over 50 years. Echoes of its past remain—when the current owners began renovation work, they discovered original underlay lined with 1960s newspapers, still advertising films their own parents remembered seeing at the local cinema. Today, the property has been tastefully refurbished throughout, blending heritage charm with contemporary elegance and move-in ready condition.

Early viewing is highly recommended for this property - it’s a story, a legacy, and a truly special place to call home.
